God’s Forgiveness

Sometimes (and don’t lie to yourself; we’ve all done this at least once!) we think we’ve done the ultimate sin. Whatever it is, big or small, it begins to weigh us down. You feel terrible guilt, and you get the feeling that you’ve done something terrible. What is giving us this feeling? The devil. “What?!” You may say. “I thought the devil made us feel like it’s okay to sin; why would he make us feel bad about sinning?”

Well, it’s a very good question. You see, God can always forgive us. Satan is telling you a lie, trying to make you believe that God no longer loves you and doesn’t want anything more to do with you. The truth is? God will always love you, no matter what.

Still not sure? The Bible tells us of a time when David (who was a really good guy) committed two really bad sins. Murder and adultery. Those two are usually worse than most of us have ever done. But what happened to David after this happened? Let’s read 2 Samuel 12:13 (NIV):

“Then David said to Nathan, ‘I have sinned against the LORD.’    Nathan replied, ‘The LORD has taken away your sin. You are not going to die.'”

Although David “sinned against the LORD”, God still loved him and forgave him. Always remember that He can and will always forgive you.
