The Eternal Choice

Accepting Jesus Christ as our savior is the biggest (and best!) choice we will ever make in our short lives. Saying “yes” or “no” can affect our lives forever…literally. Like the title says, this is an eternal (and extremely important!) choice.

To better grasp this, let’s look at John 3:16 (NIV). John 3:16 is probably the most famous Bible verse there is. Let’s take a look:

“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

All right, let’s look at this verse bit by bit. It says, 1) “For God so loved the world”; he loves every single person in the world equally and unimaginably! 2) “…that He gave His one and only Son,” God sent His Son to die for us. Also, Jesus didn’t merely die; at the age of thirty-three, he faced the worst death of that time: crucifixion, and he did so to wipe away our sins so that 3) “whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Although we may die (perish) physically, we will be given a new body in heaven and “have eternal life”. Of course, if we’re raptured, we won’t die at all but will go straight to heaven (see Rapture and Tribulation).

This is a free gift. Not too long ago I made a post with the icon, “He Died For You; Why Not Live For Him?” (see Goal Forty-two) It’s a question worth pondering. If you are interested, see Becoming A Christian.
