Sometimes we ask the wrong question. Instead of asking, “Who is Jesus?”, we ask, “Who was Jesus?” Have you ever heard, “who was and is and is to come?” That means Jesus existed in the past, He exists in the present (in other words, right now!), and He will exist in the future, for all time to come.
And to that question, “Who Is He?”, there is only one answer: Jesus is the Messiah, our Savior, our Redeemer, our Friend. He is the Son of God. He died on the cross and was raised on the third day to save us from our sins. But tied in to that is another question…why?
In answer to that, it is so that we can spend eternal life with our heavenly Father. Jesus made a way to heaven for us. If it wasn’t for Him, there would be no hope. Without Him, we are separated from God. The only way to heaven is by asking Jesus into our hearts and to forgive us of our sins. That is the only way! John 14:6 (NIV) says this:
“Jesus answered, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
Jesus clearly stated He is the only way to heaven. We need to accept the free gift He has given us and live for Him!
