Pleasing God

This is a super important topic. I challenge you to examine your life. What is your goal? What do you find yourself doing most? Are you pleasing God, or are you pleasing people? Are you choosing popularity of doing what’s right? You may not think of it that way, but a lot of us do choose people over God, and we need to change that.

Now, I’m not saying that we shouldn’t please people. I am that saying we need to set our priorities. God comes before people, and others comes before self. It’s that simple. However, when we go about our daily lives, it doesn’t seem quite so simple, does it? We find ourselves faced with a situation, where it comes down to this: choosing between right and wrong, and choosing between God and the world.

Here’s the thing: when we do the wrong thing, the world is rooting us on. When we do the right thing, God is cheering for us! The world is temporary; everything “good” thing we could obtain from doing the wrong thing will fade away: fame, money…whatever the world tells us is “good” that we get from doing “bad”…that just doesn’t make sense, does it? But when God tells us to do the right thing, to do something good, it is truly good–no quotation marks.

It can be easy to make a commitment. It can be easy to say, “I’m going to please God. I’m going to choose the right thing over the wrong thing. I’m going to do good, not bad, no matter what the world says.” But once we actually get out there into the world, it can be tough. But I challenge you to stand for what is right! Here’s a little hint: when you hit those tough times, pray to God. Ask Him to help you, because He will.
