Christmas. Aside from birthdays, I’ll bet that it’s one of the most looked forward to days of the year. Presents, snow, no school, family–what isn’t there to love?
John 3:16 says this:
For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.
There is a promise in that. A beautiful, never-ending promise. God didn’t say, “Limited time only! Come and get the gift of salvation and eternal life!” No, He opened His arms to us and said, “I want you to be with me. I want your eternity to be filled to the brim with joy!” It was a gift that we could accept any time. Plus, it was a gift He wanted us to share.
The joy of giving. We all love getting things, of course, but don’t you love it when you give a gift to someone else and watch the smile light up their face? If you’ve already accepted God’s gift of salvation, you can keep on giving it. No matter where you are, there is almost always someone who hasn’t heard that message, who hasn’t received that gift. If you haven’t accepted God’s gift, why don’t you do it right now? It’s a choice that will change the rest of your life.
Merry Christmas: God loves you!
