Okay, I see how it’s strange for a teenager to write a post titled like that…but it’s true. And I’ve been reminded of it in so many ways lately. For example, it’s almost Father’s Day, and yet it feels like it was Father’s Day just yesterday, not last year! Sunday is also my birthday; it feels like this past year has just flown by. And on top of all of that, my grandfather is in the hospital. On Wednesday, the doctors said he probably only had a couple more days to live. So here’s the question: Am I living my life to glorify God? Or will I one day look back and wish I’d done more?
Young people, it’s wonderful to be young! Enjoy every minute of it. Do everything you want to do; take it all in. But remember that you must give an account to God for everything you do. So refuse to worry, and keep your body healthy. But remember that youth, with a whole life before you, is meaningless. (Ecclesiastes 11:9-10, NLT)
What amazing words. Are you living your life to the fullest, in a way that gives glory to God? Sadly, a lot of times we don’t. Is it because it seems easier not to? Or is it just because God doesn’t seem like a big enough deal to strive to glorify Him through everything you do?
Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion. But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint. (Isaiah 40:30-31, NLT)
The fact is, God is a big deal. He’s the most important thing in your life. He is our Shelter (Psalm 73:28), incomparable (Psalm 89:6), our Refuge (Psalm 91:2), our Rock (Psalm 92:15), Most High (Psalm 92:1), our Light and salvation (Psalm 27:1), the King of kings and Lord of lords (1 Timothy 6:15), and our Shepherd (Psalm 23:1). These are only a few examples, but basically what I’m saying is this: God is everything you could ever need, and more (1 Timothy 6:17). He loves you more than you can imagine (1 John 4:9-10). And He wants you to be His child. He wants you to live your life to its fullest.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11, NIV)
God has an amazing plan laid out for you. Are you going to sit back and let your life be, or are you going to strive to follow God’s will with everything that is within you? If you say yes to the latter, you’re on the right track.
