Out of Control

Life can sometimes feel like this duck--his whole world has been turned upside down.

Life can sometimes feel like this duck–his whole world has been turned upside down.

Have you ever felt out of control of your life? No matter how well you plan, no matter how well you think you have things “under control”, the unexpected often comes along and flips your life upside down.

This lack of control can be annoying and stressful. After all, we like to be in control. We like to make a plan and then see it through. Life usually doesn’t work that way, though. Something unpredictable happens, and–just like that–your plans mean nothing.

What do we do in a world where nothing is under control? Where anything could happen anytime and plans fall apart? Thankfully, there’s One who is always in control–no matter what.

Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand. (Proverbs 19:21)

And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28)

The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps. (Proverbs 16:9)

We can make our plans and watch them spin out of control, but nothing surprises God. He is always watching, always in control, and always loving. When life goes crazy on us, we don’t need to worry! The Lord our God is in control, and He is working things for the good of those who love Him.

Trust in God, Rely on His goodness, and rest in His love. Our lives are in the hands of the God who created the universe; the very same God that gave His life for us that we may have eternal life!

But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)
