In Case of Life, Seek God

We regard God as an airman regards his parachute; it’s there for emergencies but he hopes he’ll never have to use it.

-C. S. Lewis

Isn’t that true? We often act like God is only there in case of emergencies. Otherwise, we want to live life our way and we don’t want Him involved. The truth is, we need God every day of our lives! We need a daily relationship with Him, not a quick fix when we’ve found ourselves in a bit of trouble.

in case of fireNot only do we need God in our lives, He wants to be involved! He wants to be a part of your life. He wants you to go to Him in prayer when you’ve had a particularly bad day. He wants you to open His Word whenever you need encouragement or wisdom. He doesn’t want to be the parachute that you dread using–He wants to be in a love relationship with you!

What do we have to do? One, accept His gift of salvation. That opens the way for a relationship between you and God, but it doesn’t stop there. We need grow in our relationship through studying the Word, prayer, and just spending time in Him.

Is God there in the emergencies of life? Yes. But He’s also there with you through every little up and down of your daily life. His love for you is immeasurable and never-ending.

So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. (1 John 4:16)

And just to be with you, I’ve done everything
There’s no price I did not pay
Just to be with you, I gave everything
Yes, I gave my life away

  1. “In case of life, seek God” – I love that title! A great post on relying on in Him in every breath, not just the emergency situations. I like that word ‘abide’… It’s so easy to forget to do it.
I love this song too – what a beautiful serenade from Jesus 🙂

    • Thank you! It’s an amazing song! The first time I heard it, I had to listen to it a few times over, just sitting and soaking in the lyrics. We often forget just how much Jesus has done for us! God bless!
