Standing Tall

It can be easy to do the wrong thing when influenced by those around us. It can be hard to stand up for our faith and resist the temptation. Maybe we say, “I only do these things because I’m afraid I’ll be laughed at if I do my own thing!” It’s a valid point. But we have to consider this: we get laughed at because we refuse to follow the crowd, which we refuse to do because of our faith. Isn’t the reward of eternal life with Jesus worth being made fun of by a few bullies? God will always stand by His children (which, no matter what your age, if you’re saved, means you!). Acts 5:41 (NIV) says:

“The apostles left the Sanhedrin, rejoicing because they had been counted worthy of suffering disgrace for the Name.”

The disciples were rejoicing that they had suffered! Our attitude needs to be like that, always. So when it’s tempting to do the wrong thing because that’s what the world or the popular kids at school our doing, stand tall!
