God Time: Plugging In

I’m writing this on my phone because my computer is barely operable. It’s not until something like this happens that I realize how much I rely on technology. I’m sorry to say that I spend almost all my free time using some kind of electronic device. Laptop, phone, TV… is it for a good reason? Sometimes. I would definitely consider writing on my blog as time well spent. But, regardless, I won’t deny that I spend more time than I should looking at a screen.

Even my Bible time has been spent on my phone. I use an app to do a one-year Bible plan. I think this is an awesome feature, and so far I have been keeping up with my Bible reading. Still, I’m not sure what it is about reading on my phone that seems to distract me. It’s a personal thing, I guess.

So, I’ve decided to work on getting unplugged from all this technology and getting more plugged in to God. I don’t think I’ll drop my Bible plan, since I’ve really enjoyed it; but I will have to work on not checking my stats on my wordpress app as soon as I’m done with that day’s reading!

That’s what I’m challenging myself with.  But is there something you need to unplug from so you can connect to God? Technology isn’t the only thing that can distract us from spending time with our heavenly Father.

That’s all for now! And thanks for bearing with me; my thoughts don’t flow as well when I’m trying to type on a phone’s keyboard!

God bless,

  1. Great post! Unplugging is so important in our world that’s all about being connected through social media (which isn’t a bad thing if you’re not addicted to it). We need to learn to connect with God before we connect with anything or anyone else.
